Overview:
Parental Wisdom is a proprietary online
web database utilizing search technology allowing
parents to ask questions and receive a variety of
answers and opinions from professionals and other
parents for all age groups. U.S. Patents 6,193,518
& 6,482,012 protects this multiplicity of opinion
concept. Parental Wisdom recognizes the uniqueness
of every child, and parents as the real experts in
knowing their own children. The Parental Wisdom database
will empower busy, capable parents to make their own
well-informed decisions.
Project:
Parental Wisdom (parentalwisdom.com)
requires a very user-friendly web interface powered
by a Q&A database allowing parents to ask questions
related to child development within a search tool
on the site. Responses are automatically generated
in summary and detail form, providing bio information
on each respondent. The most important aspect of this
project is the ability to define the exact nature
of the question; pairing it with appropriate responses
so the parent ‘expert’ can choose which
option will work best for their situation. New questions
will be sent to the professionals and like parents
for their opinions on the subject matter. Answers
will be automatically forwarded to the parent upon
completion and editing of opinions.
Solution:
Design a very friendly warm graphic
front end which has a very non-invasive message, powered
by a search engine and an intelligent database that
works with the search matching submitted questions
with already answered questions, or sends new questions
to respondents to review and answer for the parent.
A very key component to development is the networking
programming required to manage the flow of information
between the parent and the professional. This web
software and email intelligence tool is constructed
in a .NET environment using the following tools (ASP.NET/VB.NET/C#)
and designed in Macromedia. It is powered by Windows
2003 Servers and is currently hosted in our state
of the art datacenter. Aesthetically designed HTML
Emails are also implemented to keep parents (the membership
database) abreast on recent developments on parentalwisdom.com.
Results:
Parents
becoming more informed and getting a variety of answers
to their questions based on more than two authorities
on the web in a non-judgmental way, where there really
can be more than one right answer to a question. The
breadth of the database will grow by the community
of members.
